HEADJOINTS

Although we don't show pictures of headjoints (if you've seen one head you've seen them all), this doesn't mean that the headjoint is no less important to our flutes. In fact, as all flutists know, the head is a critical component in the sound and success of a flute and we pay as meticulous detail to its design and construction as we do the tuning, mechanism and padding. (If you would like, you can see a picture of a Lunn headjoint here.)

Knowing that all flutists look for a headjoint that will reflect their own personal style, we craft each one individually to meet the tough standards that players demand. Whether you are looking for a new headjoint for your current flute or trying to decide which head would be best for your new Lunn flute, we can make the perfect match for you. Here are our 3 primary designs.

CONTEMPORARY
This undercut and open style has a square hole and straight blowing edge giving it strong tonal control. This head also has a great dynamic range, fast articulation and solid low end.
TRADITIONAL
This is a conservative design with a sweet sound. It has a small hole, very little undercut and no overcut. The dark qualities and more resistant nature of this headjoint suggest a traditional sound with plenty of control.
VOGUE
Our most popular model, the Vogue gives you the best of both worlds. Moderately resistant with a smaller hole than the Contemporary and a slightly curved front edge gives it maximum flexibility and control for a extensive range of tone colors, harmonics and dynamics.
